Description

HEAVY-DUTY DEGREASER
Product Overview

IPurpose-built for the contamination other degreasers leave behind.

Machine tools, hydraulic fixtures, and industrial workpieces accumulate a specific type of contamination called Heavy-Duty Degreaser  — a thick, oxidised, gummy oil residue that has polymerised and bonded hard to metal. This is not fresh oil. Standard degreasers dilute fresh oil; they barely touch Heavy-Duty Degreaser. GOMIN Heavy-Oil Degreaser is formulated differently.

What is Heavy-Duty Degreaser and why does it matter?
Heavy-Duty Degreaser forms when machine oil or cutting fluid is exposed to heat, oxygen, and pressure over time. The hydrocarbons polymerise into a varnish-like film that adheres tenaciously to ferrous and non-ferrous metal alike. Left uncleaned, it traps abrasive particles, promotes corrosion under the scale layer, and degrades the precision tolerances of tooling surfaces.
How GOMIN Heavy-Oil Degreaser breaks through it
The formula combines specialised eco-friendly surfactants, cosolvents, corrosion inhibitors, and deionised water in a precisely balanced alkaline base. The surfactant blend is selected specifically for its affinity to polymerised hydrocarbons — it rapidly penetrates the scale layer, breaks the adhesive bond between gummy deposit and metal substrate, and lifts the contamination into emulsion for easy rinsing.
Key Features
01
Heavy-Duty Degreaser specialist formula
Proprietary surfactant blend engineered for polymerised oil and yellow gummy scale — the contamination type that standard alkaline degreasers consistently fail to remove in a single pass.
02
Non-flammable · no fire risk
Water-based formula. Store, handle, and apply in confined workshops and around ignition sources with no flammability concern. No special flammable goods storage required.
03
Safe on aluminium alloys
Explicitly non-corrosive to steel, iron, aluminium, and aluminium alloys — safe for use on assembled machinery without disassembly or masking.
04
Eco-certified · no APEO
Contains no alkylphenol ethoxylates, phosphates, or nitrites. Fully biodegradable. Compliant with GB/T 35759. Waste water requires only pH neutralisation before drain discharge.
05
Odourless · no fumigation
No strong or irritating odour. Workers operate under standard ventilation conditions. No respiratory protection required from vapour exposure.
06
Multiple application methods
Spray, soak, wipe, brush, or ultrasonically clean. Effective at room temperature; heating to 50–65°C significantly accelerates penetration for heavy scale.

Temperature note: Effective at room temperature. Heating solution to 50°C–65°C significantly accelerates penetration of heavy scale and reduces cleaning time. Do not exceed 70°C.
Step-by-Step Application
01
Assess contamination and select dilution
Inspect surface for contamination type and severity. For heavy Heavy-Duty Degreaser or thick gummy scale, use undiluted. For general machine oil, dilute 1:5 to 1:20 with water.
02
Apply and allow dwell time
Apply by spray, brush, soak, or wipe. Ensure full coverage. Allow 3–10 minutes dwell. For heavy scale, extend dwell or heat to 50–65°C. Re-apply if surface begins to dry before the dwell period completes.
03
Agitate if needed
For stubborn deposits, use a brush, cloth, or ultrasonic bath. Most Heavy-Duty Degreaser lifts without aggressive scrubbing once the surfactant breaks the adhesive bond.
04
Rinse thoroughly with clean water
Flush with clean water to remove all product and emulsified contamination. A second rinse with deionised water is recommended for precision components.
05
Apply rust inhibitor (strongly recommended)
Bare steel and iron surfaces are temporarily vulnerable to flash rust after degreasing. Apply GOMIN Water-Based Rust Inhibitor immediately after rinsing, especially in humid environments or before storage.
06
Dispose of waste water correctly
Alkaline waste water should be neutralised with acid (target pH 6–9) before discharging into municipal sewage. Formula contains no persistent pollutants.

Safety Information
Safe practices
•Wear protective rubber or nitrile gloves during use
•Wear safety glasses or face shield when spraying
•Standard workshop ventilation is sufficient — no respiratory protection required for vapour
•Store at room temperature in a cool, ventilated area away from direct sunlight
•Keep out of reach of children
If contact occurs
•Eyes: flush immediately with large volumes of clean water for at least 15 minutes; seek medical attention
•Skin: flush with water; wash with soap; seek medical attention if irritation persists
Restrictions
•Not suitable for prolonged soaking of copper or other non-ferrous coloured metals
•Test on an inconspicuous area before full application to surfaces of unknown material
•Do not mix with acid products
Neutralise waste water to pH 6–9 before drain discharge
Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is Heavy-Duty Degreaser and how is it different from regular machine oil?
Heavy-Duty Degreaser is the thick, varnish-like oxidised oil residue that builds up on machine tools and fixtures over time. Unlike fresh machine oil which is fluid and easy to wipe away, Heavy-Duty Degreaser has polymerised under heat and oxidation into a semi-solid gummy film bonded tightly to metal. Standard alkaline degreasers often fail to fully remove it in a single pass; GOMIN Heavy-Oil Degreaser uses surfactants specifically targeting this polymerised hydrocarbon structure.
Can I use this on assembled machinery without stripping it down?
Yes. The product is safe on steel, iron, aluminium, aluminium alloys, and painted and lacquered surfaces. Apply by spray or wipe, allow dwell time, and rinse. It will not damage typical machine tool paint, chromated surfaces, or seals under normal application. For equipment with rubber seals or unusual coatings, test on an inconspicuous area first.
How long should I allow for dwell time?
For light to moderate contamination: 3–5 minutes. For heavy Heavy-Duty Degreaser deposits: 5–15 minutes, or heat to 50–65°C to accelerate penetration. Keep the surface wet; re-apply if it begins to dry. Do not allow the product to dry completely as this makes rinsing more difficult.
Do I need rust protection after degreasing?
Yes, for steel and iron parts. Degreased bare metal — with all protective oil films removed — is temporarily vulnerable to flash rusting, particularly in humid conditions. Apply GOMIN Water-Based Rust Inhibitor promptly after rinsing and drying, especially if parts will be stored or held before the next process stage
Does this product replace gasoline or kerosene cleaning?
Yes. GOMIN Heavy-Oil Degreaser is designed as a direct, safer replacement for flammable solvent-based cleaners. It achieves equivalent or superior oil removal without fire risk, toxic fumes, or hazardous waste classification.
